Campaign Virginia supports strong federal interstate waste legislation that:
- Allows states to charge higher fees on out-of-state waste.
- Places a ban on future waste imports unless a community approves it.
- Allows states to consider local and regional need when making permit or expansion decisions.
- Gives state legislatures the power to cap the amount of landfill space that can be filled with other states' garbage.

Gives citizens the right to say no to sewage sludge, combustion ash, and contaminated soils, as well as residential and commercial waste.

Reinforces state and local police powers regarding transportation of waste to protect public safety, health, and the environment.
